P2D Firearms instructor is a 30+ year Special Forces veteran with decades of Firearms instruction to US and Foreign military personnel.
He is an NRA certified Basic Pistol and CCW instructor who is verified by the CO El Paso County Sheriff to provide Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit Course Instruction.
We offer both NRA CCW and CO CHP (Initial and Refresher) courses.
As of July 20th, we are able to offer CPW certified SB25-003 basic and extended training for the purchase of SSFs.
We can also provide basic handgun and rifle courses centered around safe gun handling and marksmanship principles.
The CPW and County Sheriff's offices are developing a plan for background checks, training and "purchase permits" which will be good for 5 years. It is a multi agency system that will have growing pains. P2D Firearms will be one of the Firearms trainers who will be verified to conduct the training in CO once the "certification and verification" processes are established.
The basic work flow for an individual who wants to purchase a "Specified Semiautomatic Firearm" (SSF) is:
Go to the Firearm Safety System application web link (will not go live until July 20) to complete an application. (We will keep you updated)
You must provide: name-based background check and government –issued photo ID to your county Sheriff’s office.
The sheriff reviews the documentation, determines eligibility and issues an eligibility card (EC) that is good for 5 years.
Find an approved instructor and enroll in course. You may take the course from any Verified Firearms Instructor in the state of Colorado. The instructor will verify your eligibility to take the Basic (4hrs) or Extended (12hrs) course. During this step, you will need to pass an exam and hands-on practical with a 90% or better.
The gun dealer will confirm your eligibility in the FSS and begin the purchase process.
Remember, that we are both an FFL and a verified instructor, so we can be your one stop shop!
